The most prestigious furniture fair proved to be a captivating event, for drawing design enthusiasts, industry professionals, and trendsetters from around the globe. As attendees explored the sprawling exhibition halls, they were treated to many inspiring displays, groundbreaking concepts, and immersive experiences. Join us as we are unveiling 10 highlights of Salone del Milano 2024:

Gucci introduces Ancora

Gucci’s artistic direction led by Sabato de Sarno is characterized by a luscious berry red shade, now officially named Ancora Red. Teaming up with the curator Michela Pelizzari and architect Guillermo Santomà, Gucci revamped sections of its Via Montenapoleone store into a gallery-like setting showcasing five iconic Italian designs adorned in this unique. The vibrant slime-green walls accentuate each piece, highlighting their sharp lines, shapes, and contours.

Hermès is Inspired by the Earth

Drawing inspiration from the earth’s natural elements, Hermès presents a captivating showcase at Salone del Mobile, featuring a landscape adorned with terracotta tiles, mud bricks, stones, and wood. Standout pieces include the innovative Diapason d’Hermès lounge chair, featuring a fusion of leather and hammered aluminum, showcasing the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining luxury.

Loewe presents “Loewe Lamps”

Loewe’s presence at Salone comes as no surprise, given creative director Jonathan Anderson’s avid interest in objects and furniture, as well as the brand’s annual Loewe Craft Prize, which showcases handmade objects from around the world. This year, the “Loewe Lamps”, is the most extensive exhibition yet, housed at Palazzo Citterio. Alongside the 12 lights, Loewe introduces new bag designs in collaboration with bamboo artist Hafu Matsumoto, including bespoke Hammock and Puzzle bags, as well as two entirely novel bag shapes.

Loro Piana and Cini Boeri Tribute

At Salone, Loro Pian showcases its commitment to exquisite Italian craftsmanship through an exhibit paying homage to the late furniture designer Cini Boeri. With the collaboration of arflex and the Cini Boeri archive, Loro Piana meticulously reproduces these legendary pieces, using its renowned fabrics known for their durability and luxurious texture. The exhibit is arranged like a living space, inviting guests to immerse themselves in Boeri’s designs, sit, touch, and engage with the pieces – a fitting tribute to the designer’s vision and legacy.

Louis Vuitton New Tableware Collection

Louis Vuitton made a splash at Aalone with a bespoke bed trunk tailored for wanderers who desire a potable cot wherever they go. Catering to a broader audience, the brand’s tableware collection offers a perfect entry point. The iconic LV Monogram gracefully embellishes the borders of porcelain plate sets and accents espresso and tea cup saucers, available in elegant sea blue or timeless beige.

Prada hosted Prada Frames

Prada is once again hosting its Prada Frames symposium, delving into the intricate relationship between design and surroundings. This year’s installment, titled “Being Home”, delves into the contemporary meaning of shelter and will explore various facets of home life, represented by different “rooms” such as the living room (Being Domestic/Political), the bathroom (Being Restless), the bedroom (Being Asleep), and dining room (Being Familiar).

Miu Miu and the Literary Club

Miu Miu’s inaugural Literary Club, dubbed “Writing Life”, offered an eclectic blend of readings, performances, and discussions centered on the diverse experiences of literary women across time. Through initiatives like the Library Club, Miu Miu demonstrates its tangible support for female artists, aligning seamlessly with its Women’s Tales film series and commitment to empowering the modern woman through fashion and culture.

MCM Wearable Casa

Crafted by Atelier Biagetti and curated by Maria Cristina Didero, MCM’s latest home presentation transports viewers to a celestial voyage to Mars. These pieces narrate the narrative of MCM’s daring vision, where tradition meets innovation in captivating ways. A daybed transforms into a Tatami mat, an inflatable leather seating ball offers futuristic comfort, and lamps featuring delicate woven cane shades double as stylish hats.

Saint Laurent vs Gio Ponti and Ginori

Saint Laurent debuts at Salone with a collection of porcelain plates crafted in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and the Fundación Anala y Armando Planchart. Now, Saint Laurent Rive Droit reintroduces 12 plates inspired by Ponti0s originals, including the “A” honoring Anala and Armando, echoing the vivid hues of Villa Planchart.
