Side Hustle | Kelly Wearstler’s New Creative Frontier

When Kelly Wearstler launches something new, the design world tends to pay attention. With Side Hustle | Kelly Wearstler’s New Creative Frontier, she introduces a platform that moves beyond the expected, stepping into a more experimental and collaborative territory. Side Hustle | Kelly Wearstler’s New Creative Frontier reflects a shift in how art and design can be created, experienced, and shared.

A Platform Built on Collaboration

Throughout her career, Wearstler has consistently blurred the lines between art and interior design. Many of her projects feature works created in close collaboration with artists, artisans, and designers.

Side Hustle is rooted in this philosophy. The platform brings together creatives from different disciplines and encourages them to push boundaries.

Rather than focusing exclusively on exhibitions, Side Hustle functions as a creative ecosystem. Artists have access to resources, production support, and a network that allows them to explore ideas that may not fit within the confines of conventional galleries.

The First Exhibition: Again, Differently

Side Hustle made its debut with the exhibition “Again, Differently”, held in the pool house of Wearstler’s Beverly Hills residence. The space itself has an interesting history, it once served as a private screening room for the family behind the James Bond film series.

For the launch, the building was transformed into an intimate exhibition space that blurred the boundaries between architecture, art, and design.

The exhibition brought together an international group of artists, including Dozie Kanu, Joana Schneider, Mariko Makio, Nynke Koster, Sonia Gomes, and Leonor Antunes.

Each artist approaches materials in unexpected ways, but the experience went beyond what visitors could see. The exhibition included a custom fragrance that filled the space and an original soundtrack created by producer Kenny Beats, transforming it into a truly multisensory experience.

Rethinking the Role of the Gallery

One of the most interesting aspects of Side Hustle is that it isn’t limited to a physical space. This hybrid approach reflects a broader shift taking place in the art world. Galleries are no longer just rooms where artworks are displayed, they are becoming platforms for storytelling, collaboration, and cultural exchange.

Wearstler envisions Side Hustl as something fluid and evolving, capable of popping up in different locations and adapting to new ideas and creative partnerships.

At its core, Side Hustle reflects a broader cultural movement. By bringing together artists, designers, musicians, and performers, Side Hustle encourages a more experimental and collaborative approach to making.
