Athena Calderone’s Furniture Debut Inspires Luxury Interiors
A new era of high-end furniture has arrived alongside Athena Calderone’s Furniture Debut, and it begins inside a Tribeca apartment layered with lacquer, parchment, sculptural forms, and Art Deco references.
Athena Calderone‘s furniture debut stepped into an entirely new creative chapter. The founder of EyeSwoon relocated to a Tribeca residence formerly owned by celebrated architect Thierry Despont, where she spent three years completely transforming the downtown space.

The renovation became more than a personal project. It evolved into the conceptual foundation for Assembler I, the debut furniture collection from Studio Athena Calderone, the designer’s own firm established in 2022.
And for anyone searching for sophisticated decor inspiration, this collection is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about launches in contemporary design.
A Furniture Collection Inspired by Art Deco and Vienna Secession
Calderone immersed herself in historical references that continue to shape luxury design today.
Drawing inspiration from the Vienna Secession movement, French Art Deco, and early 20th-century craftsmanship, Assembler I explores geometry, materiality, and proportion through a deeply modern lens.

Currently on view at The Future Perfect through June 26, the line features standout pieces such as the Gaillon dining chairs, Mettre dining table, Semblant pedestal, Le Panneau pendant, and the Noailles screen.
Together, they form a cohesive vision of high-end furniture that feels refined, tactile, and emotionally resonant.
The Vintage Detail That Inspired the Entire Collection
Among the most defining references behind the collection was a 1930s Daum Nancy pressed-glass vase discovered during Calderone’s research process.
Its geometric silhouette and chamfered edges directly inspired the L’éclat coffee table, one of the collection’s most striking designs.

Crafted from high-gloss lacquer and black glass, the two-tiered table sits atop polished steel feet, balancing sharp architecture with reflective softness. The piece perfectly captures the essence of Calderone’s design philosophy: dramatic, but restrained.
What distinguishes Assembler I from many contemporary luxury collections is its obsessive attention to craftsmanship and finish. One of Calderone’s favorite pieces, the Biseau armchair, combines a lacquered walnut frame with tactile bouclé upholstery.

The Noailles coffee table and Noailles screen are particularly notable for their use of Japanese parchment sourced from Kyoto, available in neutral beige and deep oxblood tones.
These details elevate the collection beyond furniture alone. They create atmosphere.
And that is exactly where modern high-end furniture is heading — toward pieces that feel collectible, architectural, and emotionally immersive.
A Defining Moment for High-End Furniture Design
With the launch of Assembler I, Athena Calderone positions herself not only as a tastemaker but as a serious voice in collectible contemporary design.
The collection speaks to a new generation of high-end furniture, one shaped by craftsmanship, historical influence, and emotional storytelling rather than excess.
For designers, architects, and anyone seeking refined decor inspiration, this launch feels less like a trend and more like a long-term design reference point.
